I walked the rail trail in Wallkill this morning with my walking buddy and client Lu. We do the 6 mile walk one morning a week. It’s just a great way to begin the day. We talk, walk and even if we feel a little sluggish or off when we begin, we always end up feeling better.
I think it’s a combination of getting the blood circulating, being out in the fresh air and being able to talk and vent and share. It’s good spirit, soul and body.
Today she shared that she lost another pound bringing the total to 23! She and her family have a cruise planned in about 6 weeks and while she lost the first 20 or so pounds fairly quickly, things have slowed down. We talked a little about tweaks she can make – carb cycling, adding some interval training and such.
She made a very insightful comment. She said she pretty much knew what she had to do – she’s been very careful to eat clean all week and while she doesn’t binge or go crazy on the weekends, she does go “off.” And while that’s not a problem since she is still losing, she wants to lose another 10 lbs. before they leave on vacation.
She said what she has to do is pretty simple – just keep doing on the weekend what she is already doing during the week and not go off.
Pretty simple. We all like to have a treat now and then and it’s fine to do so. But if you have a specific goal and a time frame you need or want to meet – sometimes you just have to take it to the next level.
I guess the question to ask yourself is this: Just how much do you really want it and what are you willing to do (or give up) to get it?
