7 Habits of Healthy People

healthy bodyThat is also the title of this Natural News Article. I wanted to share it and talk a little about my thoughts on habits that create true health. I happen to like and agree with the ones mentioned in the article and if you’re familiar with my Today’s the Day plan you’ll recognize several of the basic, foundational components of my 3D living plan.

First and foremost, whether weight loss is the goal or you have another health goal, nutrition is key. By that I mean focusing your meals around real food as opposed to fake “foods.” Rest and a positive attitude are definitely part of my 3D Living Plan. What I felt was missing were detox and exercise. We live in such a toxic world – physically, mentally, emotionally and even spiritually – we need to intentionally cleanse regularly.

Exercise, whether you want to lose weight or not, is important to real health. Our bodies were made to move, not sit still all day. We have around 650 muscles for a reason. There are so many positive benefits of regular exercise that I won’t list them all here. But one study I read about even mentioned that when a person’s internal clock is broken, which causes all kinds of serious problems, one of the most effective ways to reset it is to exercise. That’s actually HUGE since your liver’s clock regulates genes that control the timing of your metabolism of fat, glucose and cholesterol. While you can’t control what genes you’re born with, you can help control their expression. This research shows that exercise is one of the most effective ways to do that.

There are certainly other habits I would recommend making part of a healthy lifestyle, but those are basic in my book.

What are your core healthy habits?

  1. Ann,

Nutrition, exercise, and mental and physical rest are all really important to maintaining proper health. I didn’t know that exercise worked as a reset mechanism. Good to know!

    Have a Victorious Day!

  2. Ann, I savor your “no-nonsense nutrition” nuggets! I find that maintaining an organic whole foods diet and daily exercise allows my mind, body and spirit thrive! It is so important to diligently care for our “temples” of the Holy Spirit. Thank you, as always, for the information and inspiration you share!

Yes, exactly, my wonderful friend! We can treat them as temples or garbage dumps! The choice is ours.

      • You are so very welcome, my sweet sister and friend, and you know I cannot thank you enough for all your support! You said it well: we can choose to treat our bodies as divinely created temples or as garbage dumps. Words of truth!

I have to work on the “rest” part a little better… Though I enjoy a good sleep, I’m one of those people that can’t wait to wake up, and that gets me out of bed a little too early sometimes… But my eating habits are now more awesome than ever, and my exercise is definitely on track… and those 2 things have opened huge doors in my energy, condition, and clarity… Thanks for your amazing posts as always, Ann!

You are a rock star Rob lol!!! You probably have so much energy from your other good habits in place you just can’t seem to stay asleep long enough!

  4. Ann, I have commented to at least three people this week that we are meant to move. That was triggered by my excessive ‘seat’ time at work, being on the phone and computer which IS my job. Ironically, when our projects are not so stressful and full of long days/weeks – I get more walking time and tend to think more consciously about my water intake and food choices. 2013 however has been seen increased stress at work with lots to be done, and I don’t take the time to walk/exercise and end up with poor nutrition and low sleep. Now is exactly when I need to be exercising the most! 🙂 I have to continually remember that Today’s the Day (and get moving)!

Oh Michael – you described what seems to be “normal” for all too many of us, at least at one time or another. It’s really wonderful that you are aware and making the effort to do what you can during a busier, stressful time.
