If I asked you what you thought was the most destructive thing in a woman’s life you might just come up with quite a few answers. Perhaps you might say, abuse, stress, low self-esteem, fear or unfairness. What if I asked you what the most destructive thing nutritionally might be? Would you say junk food, chips, soda, ice cream, fast food fries?
Well while none of those are good for any of us, according to this article researchers at the University of Utah found that death rates in female mice fed the equivalent of 3 cans of soda a day doubled! Males didn’t exactly go unscathed – their fertility rates dropped. So their ability to reproduce was drastically decreased and they died more frequently. As someone who lives in the country and has dealt with mice, that doesn’t exactly upset me but what it means for us humans certainly does.
This diet in this study used refined sugar (glucose and fructose). I talk often about eating real food in a form as close to how God created it. Sugar comes from sugar cane, a natural food. If what you eat is sweetened with cane juice it retains the nutrients and minerals and your body recognizes it as food.
If this isn’t enough to convince you to begin eliminating as much refined sugar from your diet as possible, perhaps this will: recent studies confirmed that processed sugar is a major factor behind the growth and spread of cancer tumors! It was found that tumors “eat” much more sugar than normal, healthy tissue does. So eating a lot of refined sugar seems to also increase your risk of developing cancer.
There are healthier alternatives you can learn about here.
What is keeping you from eliminating refined sugar from your diet?

Sugar can cause stress and depression and is the root cause of other ailments, so this article is right on! I’m making changes, too, because my sugar levels are going up…not because I am eating many things with sugar now, but no kind of carb is my friend. Refined carbs turn into pure sugar in my body, so I have to avoid those, too!
Absolutely Wanda – and refined carbs are no one’s friend – whether they realize it as you do or not!
Ann,
I had a friend who died from cancer several years ago. She was younger than me. I stopped by the heath food store and bought her all sorts of healthy stuff and I was appalled that the hospital was giving her sugary drinks and snacks!!! Even if she didn’t have cancer, a sick person doesn’t need a bunch of junk food. So, it’s very important that you are pointing out that cancer feeds on sugar.
Have a Victorious Day!
Marianne
Most people don’t realize that and when doctors do a PET scan to confirm the presence of cancer, what they inject into the person is full of sugar because sugar will cause the areas of cancer to light up.
