Everywhere you look, someone is talking about the problem of obesity in this country. The statistics, as you can see above, are alarming. The problem is very real and it not only affects adults, but many children and teenagers as well. You would think the food industry would be working toward finding ways to encourage people to eat in a healthier way in order to help reverse this trend. At least I would think so – but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
As this article explains, the bottom line, as always, seems to be increasing profits, not providing healthier options. While many restaurants do offer healthier options, you can read about the newest innovations coming to a fast food restaurant near you soon, including pizza layer cake, vegetable flavored ice cream (??) and a Coca Cola mega soda dispenser.
I don’t know about you but those all sound disgusting to me and you couldn’t pay me enough to try any one of them.
It seems to me that the powers that be are saying one thing, yet doing the opposite. Hopefully, the majority of people will be too smart to fall for this deception.
Do you think these new food innovations will negatively affect most people?
