Detox: Why It’s More Important Than Ever

Step one in my Today is Still the Day plan and book is detox. We actually use the first two weeks of the plan to do a gentle detox. People have, over the years, questioned why this is step one. It’s pretty simple – we live in a very toxic world and toxicity really messes up how our body functions.

Recent research has now shown that toxicity is implicated in a host of other conditions, including  neurodegenerative disease, obesity, autoimmune illnesses such as Hashimotos thyroiditis, as well as cancer, arthritis, gout, lupus, and fibromyalgia.

We are inundated with toxins from fluoride in dental products and water supply to glyphosate contaminating our food supply, artificial preservatives and sweeteners, drugs, cosmetics and personal care products, flame retardants and EMFs (electromagnetic fields) from cell phones and computers. Then we can’t overlook toxic emotions, thoughts, beliefs and relationships as they all impact our physical health as well.

We can’t live outside this world and so we will be impacted by all or some of these to some degree. So what can we do? Plenty! We can be intentional in choosing the highest quality, organic, grass fed and finished foods we can find and afford. A study done at the University of California found that eating organically-grown food for just 6 days significantly decreased toxins in the body by an average of 60.5%. I don’t know about you but that is amazing to me and seems like a very simple step to take for such an impactful result.

Of course increasing clean water and fiber will help sweep toxins out of your body. Increasing intake of healthy fats including omega-3s like fish and krill oil, pasture butter and coconut oil and eliminating toxic fats like margarine and seed oils like canola will also help the body detoxify and heal.

Being aware of negative, toxic emotions, thoughts and relationships and finding effective ways to deal with them, like EFT, will also reduce your toxic load.

If you don’t need to lose weight or don’t want to commit to the 7 week Today is Still the Day Plan, why not give yourself the gift of a 14-Day Reboot. It is a simple two-week eating plan focused on detoxifying your body, showing your liver some love and you get all the information you need to do it. Aren’t you worth two weeks of clean eating? You will be surprised at how simple it is and how much better you will feel.

How do you detoxify yourself?

  1. Great, inspiring thoughts Ms. Ann. I like how you describe “detoxing” as giving a gift to our bodies. We weren’t created to live of this world were we ma’am? I’ve never done a detox (purposely at least), but am interested enough in understand how it can be safely done (without starving myself). You continue to inspire this old “dyed the wool southern rancher” to want to live a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. Less gravy, more fruit! 🙂 God’s blessings ma’am.

Oh J.D. your comments always make me smile! No we are to live in this world but we are not of this world. That’s truth! I’m happy you get it – that detoxing doesn’t have to be difficult. Your openness to new things is inspiring!
